How it works

Cool in July. Cosy in October.

Modern air conditioning is an air-to-air heat pump: it cools the July heatwave and heats the shoulder seasons for a fraction of what the boiler costs. Priced per room, honestly.

2-in-1

cooling for the heatwave, cheap heat for spring and autumn

1 day

typical install for one or two rooms

One unit, two seasons.

Modern air conditioning is an air-to-air heat pump — run it in reverse and it heats the room at three to four times the efficiency of a plug-in electric heater. Most owners end up using the heating mode more than the cooling.

That makes it the cheap way to warm one room in the shoulder seasons without firing the whole heating system — the home office in October, the attic room in March.

Is it right for my house?

go on so

A good fit if…

  • Rooms that roast in summer — attic conversions, south-facing living rooms, home offices
  • A spot outside for the outdoor unit with about 1.5m clear in front
  • Wanting cheap, quick heat in spring and autumn without firing the whole heating system
hold off

Probably not, if…

  • Whole-house heating replacement — that's a heat pump, a different product (we do that too)
  • More than three rooms online — we'll survey and price that properly instead
  • Expecting a grant — there's no SEAI grant for air conditioning, and we'll never imply otherwise

The questions everyone actually asks

Does it really heat as well as cool?

Yes — reverse-cycle units heat at 3-4x the efficiency of electric heaters, and many owners end up using the heating mode more than the cooling.

How loud is it?

Indoor units run at whisper levels on low; the outdoor unit is about as loud as a fridge and lives outside anyway.

Is there a grant?

No — SEAI doesn't grant-aid air-to-air systems. Our price is the price.

Can you do more than three rooms?

Yes, but not through the online quote — multi-split systems need proper design, so book the free survey and we'll spec it.

Does the indoor unit need an outside wall?

It helps a lot — the pipes go straight out. Inside walls are possible with trunking; the flow asks so the estimate is honest.
