Toasty

Warmth for walls with no gap to fill.

Older homes with solid walls can't be pumped — the warmth goes straight through the stone. Dry-lining insulates from the inside, room by room, and the SEAI grant covers a serious share.

Is it right for my house?

go on so

A good fit if…

  • Solid-wall homes — most built before the 1940s, and plenty after
  • A home built and occupied before 2011 — that's what unlocks the grant
  • Doing it room by room — start with the coldest, spread the cost
  • Rooms being redecorated anyway — the smart time to insulate is before the paint
hold off

Probably not, if…

  • Homes with unfilled cavity walls — pumping the cavity is far cheaper, do that instead
  • Anyone not ready for some disruption — rooms are out of action while the work's done
  • Walls with damp problems — those get fixed first, honestly and separately

What's in the price

Toastythe docket
  • Insulated board fixed to external walls, skimmed ready for paint
  • Window reveals and sills detailed properly — the spot bad jobs go wrong
  • Sockets and radiators on those walls moved out and refitted
  • SEAI grant paperwork — we handle the claim

Not on this docket

  • Painting and final decoration
  • Fixing existing damp — that comes first
  • External wrap insulation — a different (bigger) job we can talk through at survey

No surprises at the till — anything extra is named at the free survey, never on the invoice.

The install

  1. measure

    1

    Survey and plan

We measure the rooms, check the walls are dry and sound, and agree the order of work — coldest rooms first usually.

  2. install

    2

    Room by room

Each room takes a few days: board on the external walls, reveals detailed, sockets refitted, walls skimmed.

  3. enjoy

    3

    Decorate and done

Once the skim dries you paint, and the room is transformed — solid-wall cold becomes genuine warmth.

The questions everyone actually asks

How much room do I lose?

About the depth of the board — usually 8–10cm off each insulated wall. Noticeable on paper, rarely in practice, and only external walls are done.

Do I qualify for the grant?

Built and occupied before 2011 with the work done by an SEAI-registered installer — up to €4,500 for a detached home, €3,500 for a semi. We handle the paperwork.

Can I do just one or two rooms?

Yes — it's priced and done room by room. Lots of people start with the coldest room and continue when it suits.

How disruptive is it really?

The room being worked on is out of action for a few days and needs redecorating after. We seal and tidy as we go, but honest answer: it's a proper job, not a half-day one.

Internal or external — which should I do?

Internal is cheaper per room and grant-friendly; external wrap does the whole house in one go but costs multiples more. The survey talks you through both honestly.
