Toasty

The cheapest warm in the house.

About 30% of a home's heat drifts out through the roof, and most Irish attics are running on a few centimetres of tired old insulation. Topping it up to modern depth takes half a day — and the SEAI grant covers most of the bill.

Is it right for my house?

go on so

A good fit if…

  • A home built and occupied before 2011 — that's what unlocks the grant
  • An attic that's empty or used for storage — boards and boxes are no bother
  • Insulation that's thin, patchy or older than the millennium
  • Anyone doing a heat pump later — this is the step that makes the numbers work
hold off

Probably not, if…

  • Built after 2010 — no grant, and your attic is likely already done to modern regs
  • An attic converted into a room — that's a rafter job, priced properly at a survey
  • Already topped up to 300mm — you're sorted; spend the money on the walls instead

What's in the price

Toastythe docket
  • Mineral wool topped up to modern depth (300mm)
  • Ventilation kept clear at the eaves — the detail bad jobs skip
  • Water tank and pipes lagged, attic hatch insulated
  • SEAI grant paperwork — we handle the claim

Not on this docket

  • New flooring or storage decking (we can price raised decking that protects the insulation)
  • Rafter insulation for converted attics — surveyed and priced separately

No surprises at the till — anything extra is named at the free survey, never on the invoice.

The install

  1. measure

    1

    Book it

Pick a morning. The crew needs attic access and an hour of parking — that's the whole ask.

  2. install

    Half a day's work

Old gaps sorted, new wool rolled to 300mm, eaves ventilation kept clear, tank and pipes lagged.

  3. enjoy

    Warm that night

You'll feel it the first cold evening — rooms hold their heat instead of leaking it through the ceiling.

The questions everyone actually asks

Do I qualify for the grant?

If your home was built and occupied before 2011 and the work's done by an SEAI-registered installer, yes — up to €2,000 depending on house type, and we handle the paperwork.

I already have some insulation — does a top-up still qualify?

Usually yes. If what's there is below current standards, topping up to 300mm qualifies for the full grant.

Can I still use the attic for storage?

Yes — we can fit raised decking over the insulation so your boxes sit above it without squashing it flat (squashed insulation stops working).

How long does it take?

A typical semi is half a day, start to finish, with no mess in the house below.

My attic is converted into a bedroom — can you still insulate it?

Yes, but along the roof slope rather than the floor — a different job that needs a survey to price honestly.
