Up to 30% of a home's warmth escapes through an uninsulated roof and walls — you're paying to heat the sky over Kildare. Insulation cuts the loss at the source, which is why it pays back faster than any other energy upgrade.
It's also what makes everything else work: a heat pump in an insulated home runs cheap and passes its heat-loss check first time. Grants cover most of the typical cost, and we claim them for you.
Is it right for my house?
A good fit if…
- Any home built before ~2005 that hasn't been upgraded — most of them
- Cold rooms, big bills, or a heat pump plan that failed the heat-loss check
- Cavity walls (most homes built after 1940) — quick, clean, hugely effective
Probably not, if…
- Homes already upgraded — topping up thin attic insulation still qualifies, but we'll say if there's nothing worth doing
- Solid-wall homes wanting a quick fix — internal/external insulation is a bigger, different job (we'll survey and price it honestly)

How much do the grants cover?
Typically the large majority of the cost for attic and cavity works — the exact figures depend on your house type and are shown in your estimate with the current SEAI amounts.
How do I know if I have cavity walls?
Most Irish homes built after 1940 do. A brick pattern of all-lengthwise bricks, or a wall around 30cm thick, usually means cavity — the survey confirms it in minutes.
Will it make the house stuffy?
Done right, no — we check and preserve ventilation as part of the job. A dry, warm house with controlled airflow is the goal.
Is it really worth it before a heat pump?
It's often required — heat pumps need a home that holds heat, and SEAI's heat-loss check enforces it. Insulation first is the correct order, and it cuts bills from day one either way.
How fast is the payback?
Attic and cavity insulation typically pay back faster than any other energy work — often within a few heating seasons, quicker with oil or electric heating.
